نظم - ماں

 نہ پیار مجھے ماں اتنا کر کہ دن نہ کٹے یوں تجھسے دور،

دل ترسے ہے گود میں تیری سر رکھ دوں، سہلاے تو،

ترے زلفوں میں طائر خیال، اب الجھ کے ہے اس پل مستور،

کھوۓ سراب خوشبو میں، اور لفظ کےاوس برساۓ تو،

سکھلایا سب کچھ تونے مجھکو بس اک یہ سکھلایا نہیں،

کہ بغیر جیوں میں تیرے کیسے، اک یہ بات بتلایا نہیں......

Nazm - 'Maa'

Na pyaar mujhe maa itna kar ke din na kate yoon tujhse door,
Dil tarse hai god mein teri sar rakh doon, sehlaaye tu,
Tire zulfon mein taa'ir e khayaal, ab ulajh ke hai is pal mastoor,
Khoye saraab e khushboo mein, aur lafz ke os barsaaye tu,
Sikhlaaya sab kuch tune mujhko bas ik ye sikhlaaya nahin,
Ke baghair jiyun mein tere kaise, ik ye baat batlaaya nahin.....

English Translation:

Mother! Don't love me so much that it hurts to live so far apart,
I long to rest my head in your lap, and for you to stroke my head,
In your hair, the bird of my thoughts, is entangled and hidden,
And lost in dreams of your fragrance, as you shower on me dewy words,
You've taught me all except one thing,
How to live without you, how to live without you......
